What IS Permatease???
In short, think of it as "permanent teasing" that is used to increase the volume and lift of some wigs, and that can also help to hide the wefts in open cap wigs and keep them from showing. Permatease is strategically placed throughout the wigs, but most often located at the top of the wig. You'll notice these short matted fibers at the base of the cap. Longer hairs are then placed over these shorter hairs to give it that "lift". To hide the wefting and add volume in longer wigs, the hair fibers at the root are lifted or crimped. It is already common for wigs with basic caps to come with permatease in the crown area. Wigs with monofilament crowns or monofilament parts may have permatease, but usually not as much as wigs with open caps.
Now that we’ve covered what permatease is, let's talk about the Pro's and Con's!
PROS
1. It helps to maintain the style of the wig Your wig will retain its style and never go flat with permatease since it's permanently part of the wig's construction. Plus, the less you have to style the wig, the longer it will last
. 2. It helps to cover the cap and wefting Wefted wigs, (or open caps wigs as they are also known) are really the most popular of cap construction on the market. These are made from wefts of hair, either human or synthetic, that are places along the wig cap. Sometimes, the wefting can be noticeable and this is where permatease steps in to help and hide those areas
. 3. Helps to keep the wig's shape Permatease will allow your wig to keep its shape after washing, air drying and moisturizing. There will not be any need for you to have to go back and reshape your wig style.
4. Built in Tease Never worry about having to brush your wig from the base or knots to create volume, the lift and volume you get from permatease will last all through the day!

Cons
1. It may need to be tamed It's normal to have flyaways with permatease, but you can easily tame them with a leave-in conditioner or even water in a spray bottle. It can then be flattened out utilizing a hairdryer. The short hairs will, however, flatten out over time.
2. Too Voluminous?? Sometimes, that built-in volume can be a little too much depending on your style. However, with a few washings, the wig will most likely lose some of the lift.
3. Permatease Can be Noticeable When wearing a lighter color wig, those short hairs can stick up and be a little more noticeable. Choosing a wig with darker hair or even rooted styles can help to hide those stray hairs.
4. The Part Can Appear Matted Up close, permatease can look matted and a bit unkept, but are intended to give body and volume. A quick combing out at the base of the permatease will loosen it up and hide some of the matting.
5.No Defined Part As the permatease is placed at the wig's root, it hides the parting. Wigs with permatease may not be for you if you prefer lace front monofilament tops with a customizable part.
